How to Fix Oppo A83 performance issue: keeps lagging
Oppo launched an A83 smartphone this year and many are in awe on how amazing this device is. However, just like other android devices it has its own flaws and problems just like the famous smartphones in the market. In this post, we will tackle about an issue particularly about the lagging or performance problem. We hope this post is helpful.

Before we proceed, if you have other problems you can always connect with us directly by filling up the form at the bottom right-corner of the screen and give us a detailed information about the issue and we do our best to research and find solutions for you.

Always Force Reboot
Now, a lot of android users didn't know how effective it is to restart your device if you feel it's performance is starting to slow. Some possible reason is to why the device starting to run slow is because three or more apps are running in the background, if so, it can cause the device to slow down. Another is, the auto-updates of the apps are turned on, I know, updated apps are always a good way to make sure that your device runs smoothly and experiences fewer bugs. However, it can also make your device slow and sometimes you might think it has malware in it. A simple restart mostly fix this problem so don't forget to do it before jumping to much complicated troubleshooting steps.

To do this, simply press the Power key for about three to five seconds and wait for it to turn off. Alternatively, you can select the Shut down icon.

Observe in Safe Mode
Safe mode is not a troubleshooting steps that can fix this issue but it can be used to identify if the lagging issue is due to third party apps. During this mode the only applications that runs are the default apps and disable all third party apps that you installed.

  1. Completely turn off your device.
  2. Long press Power button to turn it on.
  3. Once the Oppo logo appears press the Volume Down right away.
  4. Keep pressing the Volume Down button until your device boot up in Home Screen.
  5. You will know if you successfully boot your device to safe mode if you see "Safe Mode" on the lower left of the screen.
  6. Now, you can observe your device if the performance is improved. If so, then you can quickly uninstall all the most recent apps you installed.
Clear RAM
Typical reason for android device performance to decline is because of abnormal usage of the device itself. Even the biggest name of android devices also experience the same problem because it has it's limits and to go beyond that can cause issues.

The  Oppo has it's built-in app to clear the RAM to improve the performance by deleting all temporary files and closing unused apps running in the background. An example app is Security Center app that was installed by the manufacturer specifically for this purpose. Once done, see if the performance is improve.

Close All Irrelevant Apps
Closing all the unused apps running in the background can improve the performance of your device. Since some of these  apps are using auto-update or using more RAM than the others. To close it, you can either use the pre-installed app or close them one by one.

Clear System Cache
The system cache are temporary files and if one or two are corrupted can cause some issue and can even be serious. You can use the pre-installed app specifically designed for this task, it can greatly help improve the performance.

Reduce Using More Widgets
We know that Oppo A83 specs are amazing and using more widgets for visual purposes are great. However, too much of these app can greatly decrease device performance and not only some of them uses data and auto-update, it uses more RAM as well. Just use the most useful widgets you can think of and leave the rest.

Update System
Keeping your system is great thing to do specially for this devices, it can reduce bugs and improve device performance greatly. To update the system, here's how: Go to Settings > System update.

Wipe the System Data
This troubleshooting step is used for updating the system or deleting system files or wipe system data. These files are temporary files and in some cases after an update the files are either corrupted or duplicated that can cause the system to crash or not responding. To make sure that all the old files are deleted, manually deleting it is the best option. Before doing so, make sure that you made backup to all the important files stored in your device since the device's memory will be cleared and return to factory default. So, here's how to do it:
  1. Backup all your files and store it on separate storage device.
  2. Turn off your device.
  3. Long press the Power the button and Volume Down simultaneously for a few seconds.
  4. Once the Oppo logo appears, quickly release all the buttons and let it boot.
  5. Select the English language
  6. Once inside Recovery Mode, select Wipe data.
  7. Enter the pass code if prompted.
  8. Then Wipe data.
  9. Wait for the device to restart
Once your done, see if the performance is improved. If not, hardware issue must be the cause and there's nothing we can do at this point forward. We suggest to bring it to nearest Oppo Repair Center for professional check up.

We hope this guide is helpful. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have experienced some problem with your device and we will do our best to give resolution.
