Quick fix on Galaxy Note 4 "Settings has stopped" error

Quick fix on Galaxy Note 4 "Settings has stopped" error
App-related issues in android devices is rampant and lots of users were complaining about it. As a matter of fact, not just Samsung android users reported about this problem but other variants of android users as well. Although this can be considered as minor problem but I understand how annoying it is when the notification will suddenly show up in the screen from time to time.

So, in this article, I'll tackle the same issue and walk you through in troubleshooting this error on your Galaxy Note 4. We have to consider each and every possibility by doing the troubleshooting procedures until you can determine the real problem and get rid the issue. Nothing to worry about these methods because these are designed and very effective in dealing with this kind of problem. Here are the solutions that you should do:

Step 1: Reset the Settings App
What I mean on resetting is to clear the cache and data of the Settings app. You have to bring the app back to its default settings and the files and data will be wiped out. So, if the notification is not showing up after this method, then, obviously obsolete cache and data triggered the issue. Follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Proceed to Applications.
  • Select Manage Applications.
  • Tap the All Tab.
  • Look for Settings App and tap it.
  • From there, you will see the Clear Cache and Data buttons.
After resetting your Settings app observe closely if the error still shows up. If it is, jump over to the next solution.

Step 2: Reboot your Galaxy Note 4 in Safe mode
By booting your phone in this mode we have to figure it out if there's a third-party app is causing the issue on your phone. This will disable temporarily all downloaded apps while the pre-installed ones left running in the system. But remember, this method would not resolve the problem, instead, it will just give you hint if there's an incompatible app triggered the problem. This is how you boot your phone in Safe mode:
  • Turn off your Galaxy Note 4.
  • Press and hold the Power key and the Volume Down key.
  • When the phone starts to boot, release the Power key but continue holding the Volume Down key until the phone finished restarting.
  • Safe mode will be displayed at the lower left corner; you may release the Volume Down key now.
However, while in this mode and your Settings app still function abnormally, then, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Delete the System Cache Partition
Since, the error message still showing on your phone's screen after performing the previous methods, so, this time, we suggest you to clear the cache partition of your device. Unlike to the first procedure, this one is more effective because all files and data stored that the device is using will be wiped out. Through wiping the cache partition the directory of your Note 4 will be cleared and newer files and data will be generated.
  • Turn off your Galaxy Note 4.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up and Home keys at the same time, then press the Power key.
  • When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power keys but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
  • When the Android System Recovery shows on the screen, release the Volume Up key.
  • Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option "wipe cache partition" and press the Power key to select it.
  • When wiping the cache partition is finished, highlight "Reboot System now" and hit the Power key.
Step 4: Reset your Galaxy Note 4
Doing a reset on your device will be the last method that you can do if all procedures you performed failed to resolve the issue. This will bring your phone back to its factory settings and all your important files and data saved will be erased. So, before you have to follow the steps be sure to create a backup so that you can restore it once the issue is resolved. Here's how:
  • Turn off your Galaxy Note 4.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up and Home keys together, then, press and hold the Power key.
  • When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power keys but continue holding the Volume Up key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up key.
  • Using the Volume Down key, highlight "wipe data/factory reset" and press the Power key to select it.
  • Now, highlight "Yes-delete all user data" using the Volume Down key and press the Power key to begin the reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, highlight "Reboot System now" and hit the Power key.
  • The Note 4 will restart but it will be longer than usual. When it reaches the Home screen, then begin your setup.
I hope this post helps.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Notification Lights and their Meaning

Like Samsung flagship smartphones, the Galaxy Note 3 also has a LED indicator located in the top-left corner in the front panel of your phone. The indicator emits three primary colors: Blue , Red and Green . The main purpose of the LED indicator is to notify you of the current condition or status of your phone. For example, you missed a notification, the phone would emit light with a pattern to tell you about it without actually unlocking the screen. Believe it or not, it makes life a little easier if you knew the meaning of the colors and their rhythms.
