So, in this post, I'll tackle the same issue intended to those Galaxy S5 users whose experiencing this type of problem with their device. If the issue started after the update, then, most likely the firmware had been corrupted during the process wherein some of the services stopped working that resulted the device to become unresponsive and unable to turn on. On the other hand, if your phone has a liquid damage or has physical defects that would also a factor to consider that the issue occurs.

But to be sure what really the problem is, all you need to do first is to verify all possibilities by performing a troubleshooting procedures on your phone until you can create a solution and get rid the issue. That being said, these are the methods that you should do:

Step 1: Try to boot in Safe Mode
In this procedure, we will have to eliminate the suspicion that a culprit is causing the issue through restarting it in safe mode. It will disable all third-party apps and only the pre-installed ones left running in the system. So, while in this mode and your phone turned on, then obviously a culprit triggered it. Find that app by uninstalling each one you had downloaded until your Galaxy S5 function normally.

On the other hand, if your phone still unable to turn on even in safe mode, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Reboot it in Recovery Mode
Since, system update has been made on your phone there is a possibility that corrupted caches and data may caused the issue. In this instance, we will try to delete all old files and data in the directory so that newer ones will be created. Don't you worry, this method is safe and it won't delete your important files saved on your phone. In addition, if the device doesn't have any hardware issues it will turn on successfully if you have to boot it in this mode. Here's how:
  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys at the same time.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up and Home keys.
  4. When the Android System recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  5. Press the Volume Down key to highlight 'wipe cache partition.'
  6. Press the Power key to select it.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, 'Reboot system now' is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.
If the device turned on in this mode, then corrupted or outdated caches triggered the problem and you can proceed to the next method by doing a factory reset to be sure that this problem won't occur again in the future.
