Quick fix on Galaxy Note 4 that overheats and randomly shuts down after the update
Hello readers! Welcome to another post of Galaxy Note 4, in which we have to discuss another issue sent to us by one of the Note 4 users complaining about it's device that keeps on shutting down and overheating after the update. If the issue started to occur after the update, it's not far that this might caused by corrupted files and data or the firmware itself was bugged during the process.

But since, we are not sure what really triggered the problem all you need to do is to troubleshoot it through performing some procedures on your phone. The purpose of doing so, is to isolate the problem and determine the real issue until you can create solution and fix the problem. Here are the methods that you should do:

Step 1: Perform the so-called Battery-pull method
More often than not, one of the factors that makes the device to overheat and shuts down is due to numerous apps running in the background, in which, the system could no longer cater all of it and resulted your Galaxy Note 4 to overheat and shuts down without apparent reason. So, this time, we have to perform the so-called battery-pull procedure. Doing it will close all apps running in the background and refreshes the core services of the phone. Just remove the battery of the phone and press the Power button for 10 seconds to release all electricity stored in the hardware components.

After you do so, place it back the battery and Power on your phone and see if the issue still persists. If so, jump over to the next step.

Step 2: Restart it in Safe Mode
Since, the issue still happening after the first method, so, the next thing that you can do is to restart your Note 4 in safe mode. While in this environment all third-party apps will be disabled temporarily and only the pre-installed ones will be left running in the system. If your device function normally while in this mode, then, there's a culprit you to find and uninstall it to get rid the problem.

1. Turn off your Galaxy Note 4 completely.
2. Press and hold the Power and Volume Down button at the same time.
3. When the phone starts to boot, release the Power button but continue to press and hold the Volume Down button until the phone finishes restarting.
4. Safe mode will be display at the lower left corner of the screen, you may release the Volume Down button now.

But if your phone still overheats and shutting down while in safe mode, then, there might be another factor triggered it, proceed to the next procedure.

Step 3: Delete the System Cache Partition

The cache partition is files and data directory that makes the device to run smoothly and efficiently. So, if the caches in the directory has been corrupted that would be the reason that the issue occur. In this instance, we have to delete all those old caches to be sure that newer ones will be created and could run perfectly once it is loaded to the firmware. Here's how to wipe the cache partition of your Note 4:

1. Turn off the Galaxy Note 4 completely.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons at the same time.
3. When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power buttons but continue to press and hold the Volume Up button.
4. When the Android System Recovery shows on the screen, release the Volume Up button.
5. Using the Volume Down button, highlight the option, 'wipe cache partition and press the Power button to select it.
6. When wiping of the cache partition is finished, highlight 'Reboot system now' and press the Power button.

So, if the device function normally after the method, it is evident that corrupted files and data triggered the device to overheat and shuts down without apparent reason. But if wiping the cache partition failed to resolve the problem, then your phone might have a serious firmware issue.

Step 4: Master reset your Note 4

Since, all procedures failed to get rid the issue the last option that you can do is to perform master reset on your Note 4. The good thing about this method is, all bugs and culprits that might causing the issue will be removed from the system. But before you can do so, we would like you to transfer first all your important files and data because all of it will be deleted. 

1. Turn off your Galaxy Note 4 completely.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons at the same time.
3. When the Note 4 vibrates, release the Home and Power buttons but continue press and hold the Volume Up buttons.
4. When the Android System recovery shows on the screen, release the Volume Up button.
5. Using the Volume Down button, highlight 'wipe data/ factory reset' and press the Power button to select it.
6. Now, highlight 'Yes- delete all user data' using the Volume Down button and press the Power button to begin the reset.
7. When the master reset is complete, highlight 'Reboot system now' and hit the Power button.
8. The Note 4 will restart but it will be longer than usual. When it reaches the Home screen, then begin your setup.
