Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy S4 Messaging App keeps on crashing

App crashing is common and it's not just happening in Samsung Galaxy S4 but to all variants of android devices. But the good thing is, this is just a minor issue and it can be fixed through simple procedures. Step 1: Reset your Messaging App
If your Messaging app keeps on crashing without apparent reason, then, there is a big chance that corrupted or outdated caches causing the issue. In this method, we have to bring back your app to its factory default so that newer files and data will be created.
  1. From the Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap More.
  4. Tap Application manager.
  5. Scroll to and tap your Messaging app.
  6. Tap Clear Data.
  7. Tap Clear Cache.
  8. Tap OK.
Step 2: Clear the System Cache Partition
But if the issue still happening after the first procedure, there's a chance that system files and data caused it. So, this time, like the first method we will have to delete the system cache and data in the directory. If you're not familiar with these caches, these are files and data used by the system to make the device run smoothly and efficiently. Here's how:
  1. Turn the phone off completely.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
  3. Release the Power button when the phone vibrates but continue holding on to the Volume Up and Home buttons.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release both the Home and Volume Up buttons.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight 'wipe cache partition'.
  6. Press the Power button to select the option.
  7. The phone will automatically restart once cache and data are wiped out.
Step 3: Create a backup and Factory reset your Galaxy S4
However, clearing the system cache partition is not helping the issue, then, your last option is to perform factory reset on your phone. This will bring your device back to its factory default by deleting all files and data saved in the internal storage. So, before you follow the steps be sure to create first a backup in all your files. 
  1. Turn the phone off completely.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons.
  3. Release the Power button when the phone vibrates but continue holding on to the Volume Up and Home buttons.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release both the Volume Up and Home buttons.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight 'wipe data/factory reset'.
  6. Press the Power button to select it.
  7. Using the Volume Down button again, highlight 'delete all user data'.
  8. Press the Power key to select it.
  9. Once the reset is complete, choose Reboot system now.
  10. Press the Power button to restart the device.
