Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy Note 4 works only if it is charging

Power-related issue in android devices is common and there are tons of factors to consider that might causing this problem. So, in this post, I'll discuss one of the issues sent to us by the Galaxy Note 4 user complaining about its phone that only works if it is only connected to the charger. So, to figure it out what really the real problem is, all you need to do is to follow the step by step procedure until you can determine it and fix the issue.

On the other hand, if the battery is faulty that could be a factor also that your phone is so dependent on its charger and only works if it is connected. But to be sure on the real issue, here are the methods you need to do:

First Step: Try to delete its System Cache Partition
Since, we are not sure what really caused the issue, what we have to do now is to reset the cache directory of the phone. In this mode, all caches stored in the directory will be deleted so that newer ones will be created in the system. This method is safe and your files saved in the internal storage will remain intact. Here are the steps that you should do:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons at the same time.
  3. When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power buttons but continue to press and the Volume Up button.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up button.
Second Step: Bring your phone back to its default settings
This method is more complicated compared to other procedures because you may lose all your files once you do the reset. But the good thing is, if the device has software-related issue this method has a big chance to resolve it. But before you follow the steps, be sure to create first a backup to make it easier for you to restore if the issue is fixed. Here's how:

  1. Turn off your Galaxy Note 4.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons at the same time.
  3. When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power buttons but continue to press and hold the Volume Up button.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up button.
  5. Using the Volume Down button highlight 'wipe data/ factory reset' and press the Power key to select it.
  6. Now, highlight 'Yes-delete all user data' using the Volume Down key and press the Power key to select it.
  7. When the master reset is complete, highlight 'Reboot System Now'  and hit the Power key.
  8. The Note 4 will restart but it will be longer than usual. When it reaches the Home screen, then begin your setup.

For example, you missed a notification, the phone would emit light with a pattern to tell you about it without actually unlocking the screen.
