Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy Note 4 shuts down randomly after System Update

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is such a device that cost a lot when it was unveiled way back in 2014. Although it was considered as one of the Samsung most powerful devices but it's still not a guarantee that issues won't occur every now and then. In fact, for the past several months we received tons of complaints from Galaxy Note 4 users saying that their phone is experiencing issues after the update and the most common is, randomly shuts down without apparent reason.

If this type of issue occur after the update, then, there is a chance that corrupted files and data triggered it. So, in this post, we have to eliminate all possible causes to determine what is the real problem and fix it. That being said, here are the methods that you should perform:

Step 1: Delete the System Cache Partition
Occasionally, if the files and data stored in the directory become obsolete or corrupted after the update that would be the reason that your device shuts down randomly. So, in this method, we will have to delete all caches stored on your phone so that newer ones will be created. As a matter of fact, there were reports from other users saying that after wiping the cache partition the device back to its normal functionality. Here's how:

1. Turn off the Galaxy Note 4.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up key, Home key and Power key at the same time.
3. When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home key and Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up key.
5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option 'wipe cache partition' and press the Power key to select it.
6. When the wiping the cache partition is finished, highlight 'Reboot system now' and hit the Power key.

After you do the step use again your device for several hours and observe closely if the issue will continue. If so, jump over to the next method.

Step 2: Backup all your files and reset your Galaxy Note 4

This method is more complicated because all files and data saved on your phone will be deleted when you do so. But the good thing is, if this is just a software-related issue, then, this step will surely fix it. So, before anything else, be sure to create first a backup by transferring all of it your SD card or Personal computer. 

1. Turn off your Galaxy Note 4.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys at the same time.
3. When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power keys but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
4. When the Android System Recovery shows on the screen, release the Volume Up key.
5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight 'wipe data/factory reset' and press the Power key to select it.
6. Now, highlight 'Yes-delete all user data' using the Volume Down key press the Power key to begin the reset.
7. When the master reset is complete, highlight 'Reboot system now' and hit the Power key.
8. The Note 4 will restart but it will be longer than usual. When it reaches the Home screen, then begin your setup.
