Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy S5 flickering screen on low brightness

Flickering screen problem is common and not just Samsung Galaxy S5 is experiencing this one but other brands of smartphones as well. So, in this article we will be discussing this problem to help other users who had been bothered by this issue and to determine if a software conflict causes it or the phone itself is defective. To do that, here are the methods that you should do:

Step 1: Boot in Safe mode
To resolve this problem, it is imperative that we should verify if one of the third-party apps you had installed on your phone is causing the issue. So, through booting in safe mode all downloaded applications will be disabled temporarily and letting the pre-installed run in the system. So, while in this state and the issue did not persist, then, obviously there's an app causing it. Find that one and uninstall it to resolve the issue. Follow these steps to boot in safe mode:

1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Power key.
3. When 'Samsung Galaxy S5 appears on the screen, release the Power key.
4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume Down key.
5. Continue to hold the Volume Down key until the device finishes restarting.
6. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
7. Release the Volume Down key when you see safe mode.

However, after uninstalling all apps but the screen still flickers, jump over to the next step.

Step 2: Wipe the Cache partition via Recovery Mode
Sometimes, if the caches stored in the directory are outdated that may be the reason your device is having an unstable performance. Although, there is no assurance that the issue will be resolved after performing this step on your phone, but if corrupted files and data is causing it, then, this method will help fix it.

1. Turn off your phone.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys at the same time.
3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power button but continue to press and hold the Volume Up and Home keys.
4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the remaining buttons.
5. Scroll to and highlight Wipe Cache Partition using the Volume Down key.
6. Select the option by pressing the Power key.
7. Wait until the cache partition has been wiped completely.When it's done, you'll see Reboot System now is highlighted.
8. To restart the device, press the Power key.

Step 3: Perform Master reset
If the device screen still flickers after wiping the cache partition, then, this could be a serious firmware issue. In this case, the best thing that you need to do is to do a factory reset. In other words, you will bring back your device to its factory default by deleting everything stored on your phone. So, before you can do the reset make sure that you backed up all your files.

1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hole the Volume Up, Home and Power keys at the same time.
3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and Home key.
4. When the Android System Recovery appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
5. Press the Volume Down key several times to highlight 'wipe data/ factory reset'.
6. Press power button to select.
7. Press the Volume Down key until 'Yes-delete all user data' is highlighted.
8. Press Power button to select and start the Master reset.
9. When the master reset is complete, 'Reboot System now' is highlighted.
10. Press Power key to restart the device.

Step 4: Bring your phone to the nearest accredited service center

However, if master reset still failed to get rid the issue, there is a chance that the screen itself is defective. You can visit the nearest service center in your area so that the tech can check it for you and resolve the problem of your device.
