Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy S3 restarting and freezing issue

Like any other device users, Samsung Galaxy S3 owners were also experiencing various of issues and one of the most common is, power-related problem. As a matter of fact, there were reports from other users saying that even they’re not using their device it will suddenly reboots and freezes without apparent reason. So, in this post, I’ll discuss what are the factors why this issue is happening on your Galaxy S3 and to give hint what are the things that you should do in order to resolve this problem.

Here are the steps that you should perform:

Step 1: Verify if the battery is not defective by charging it until full
Most of the time, if the battery is defective and it’s not providing sufficient power to the hardware components that would be the reason the device is freezing and rebooting without apparent reason. To eliminate this suspicion, try to connect your phone to the charger and leave it until the battery is full and see if the charging icon will show up on the screen. But after several hours of charging and your phone still not responding or doesn’t have display at all, then, you can proceed to the next method.

Step 2: Do a battery-pull procedure
This method is called the “soft-reset” in which, its main purpose is to refresh the memory of the device and to release all electricity stored in the hardware components. The good thing about it, if a glitch in the system is causing the issue, then, through this step the problem will be resolved. To do so, just pull the battery out and press the Power key for 1 minute.

Step 3: Try to restart your phone in Safe Mode
This time, we have to figure it out if the device is capable of booting up once you restart in safe mode. Take note, this is just another environment wherein all third-party apps you downloaded from Play Store will be disabled temporarily and letting the pre-installed ones to run in the system. So, if your phone turned on while in this mode, then, it is evident that a culprit is causing it. You can uninstall each app you downloaded until the issue is resolved. Here’s how you boot in safe mode:

  1. Press and hold the Power key.
  2. Touch Power off.
  3. Touch OK.
  4. Press and hold the Power key for one or two seconds to turn on the device.
  5. When the Samsung logo displays, press and hold the Volume down key until the lock screen displays.
  6. When the Lock screen is displayed, Safe mode is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen.

Step 4:Attempt to boot in Recovery Mode
Remember, you can do this procedure if your phone refused to turned on while booting in safe mode. The main purpose of restarting your S3 in this mode is to verify if the hardware components are all fine and the current is perfectly flowing in the circuit. If the device successfully boots up, then, it is clear that this is just a firmware-related problem and you can fix it without a help from the technician. You can directly delete the system cache partition so that all obsolete files will be removed from the partition.

  1. Turn the phone off.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons simultaneously.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue holding the other two.
  4. When Android System Recovery screen appears, release them.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight 'wipe cache partition' option.
  6. Select by pressing the Power key.
  7. After that, highlight 'reboot system now' and press the Power key.

However, if your phone still refused to power up, then, you don’t have a choice but to bring it to the tech for there is a big chance that a hardware problem is causing it.
