Samsung Galaxy Tab S: Manage Display Settings

You can configure display options on your Samsung Galaxy Tab S including screen brightness, screen timeout, touch key light duration, screen mode, auto adjust screen tone, multi-window, daydream, auto rotate screen, show battery percentage and edit after screen capture.

A. Brightness
 



Use this option to adjust the screen brightness that would best suit your surroundings, or to your personal preference. Here's how to adjust screen brightness on the Galaxy Tab S:

1. Press the Home key.

2. Tap on Settings.

3. Select Device.

4. Next, tap Display.

5. Tap Brightness to configure the following options:

a. Automatic brightness - tap the checkmark next to this option to let the device adjust brightness automatically.

b. Brightness level - remove the checkmark from the Automatic brightness checkbox, for you to set a custom brightness level by simply touching and dragging the Brightness level.

6. To save the settings, tap OK.

B. Screen Timeout


You can choose how long the display screen remains lit after you press any key by setting the screen timeout on your Galaxy Tab S. Here's how:

a. Press the Home key.

b. Tap on Settings.

c. Select Device.

d. Tap on Display.

e. Tap Screen timeout to select a time period you want.


C. Touch Key Light Duration


With the Touch Key Light Duration, you can set the length of time the Home key and Back Key remain lit after you touch them. Follow these steps:

1. Press the Home key.

2. Tap on Settings.

3. Select Device.

4. Tap Display.

5. Tap on Touch key light duration and choose a duration period you want.

D. Screen Mode


You can select a screen mode you want to match the type of viewing you prefer. Follow these steps:

1. Press the Home key.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Select Device.
4. Tap on Display.
5. Tap Screen Mode and configure the following options:

a. Adapt display - use this option to enable or disable automatic optimization of the screen to match the type of image being displayed and other criteria, including battery level. To enable this feature, put a checkmark on the box.

b. Disable Adapt display to select a specific screen mode to match the content you display.

E. Reading Mode


When Reading mode is enabled, your tablet will automatically adjust screen settings when you use selected apps. You can also select the apps that will use the option. Here's how:

1. Press the Home key.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Select Device.
4. Tap on Display.
5. Tap the ON/OFF switch next to Reading Mode. Doing so will turn the option On or Off. Once it is enabled, tap Reading mode to select applications that will use this option.

F. Auto Adjust Screen Tone


When enabled, this feature will let your tablet analyze the screen and adjust the screen tone automatically to conserve battery power. Follow these steps:

1. Press the Home key.

2. Tap on Settings.

3. Select Device.

4. Tap on Display.

5. To enable/disable the option, tap Auto adjust screen tone.


G. Multi Window


You can set the Multi window option to use two applications on the same screen, in separate and resizable windows. Here's how:

1. Press the Home key.

2. Tap on Settings.

3. Select Device.

4. Tap on Display.

5. Tap the ON/OFF switch next to Multi Window to enable or disable the option.


H. Daydream


You can configure the Daydream setting on your Galaxy Tab S, to control what screen displays when the phone is docked or while charging. You may choose to display a Colors screen, or display photos stored on your device. Follow these steps to learn how to use Daydream feature on your tablet.

1. Press the Home key.

2. Tap Settings.

3. Select Device.

4. Tap on Display.

5. Tap the ON/OFF switch next to Daydream to turn the feature on or off. When enabled, you can configure the following options:

a. Colors - this option lets you adjust color by tapping the selector to enable or disable display of a colorful screen.

b. Flipboard - this option lets you display photos from Flipboard. To choose photos to display after enabling Flipboard, just tap on the Settings icon (represented by a wheel-like image).

c. Google Photos - this option is used to display images from Google Photos.

d. Photo Frame - to enable or disable display of photos in a photo frame, just tap the selector. When enabled, you can tap the Settings icon to choose pictures to display.

e. Photo Table - similar to Photo Frame, just tap the selector to enable or disable display of photos in a photo table. When enabled, you can tap the Settings icon to select the pictures to show.

6. To switch to daydream, tap Start Now or tap Select dream time to select when daydream shows, from While docked, While charging or All.


I. Auto Rotate Screen


As the name implies, the Auto Rotate Screen lets the screen automatically updates when you rotate the tablet. Here's how:

1. Press the Home key.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Select Device.
4. Tap Display.
5. Tap Auto rotate screen to enable or disable the feature.

J. Show Battery Percentage


By default, the battery charge level appears as an icon in the Notification panel. This feature will let you show the battery icon with the percentage of remaining charge. Follow these steps to enable option on your tablet:

1. Press the Home key.
2. Tap on Settings.
3. Select Device.
4. Tap on Display.
5. And to enable or disable this feature, tap the Show battery percentage label.

K. Edit After Screen Capture


When enabled, the Edit after screen capture will let your captured screens to display automatically, allowing you to add a note on them. Follow these steps to enable this feature on your Galaxy Tab S.

1. Press the Home key.
2. Tap on Settings.
3. Select Device.
4. Tap on Display.
5. And to enable or disable the option, tap on Edit after screen capture.
