Samsung Galaxy S5 Bluetooth Problems [Basic Troubleshooting guide]

What's wrong with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Bluetooth function? For some reasons, several S5 users are complaining about certain Bluetooth issues on their handset. So far, Samsung has neither yet acknowledged that such bug really exists on their latest Galaxy flagship, nor has rolled out any software build to fix the existing problem.

So you may wonder, what could possibly trigger Bluetooth problems to occur on your device?

Possible causes

Bluetooth issues are often tied to incorrect device settings or improper configuration of certain functions/options on the phone.

In an attempt to offer some help, we came up with this troubleshooting guide. You may refer to this content, to troubleshoot issues on your Samsung Galaxy S5 Bluetooth function.

1. Be sure to pair Bluetooth devices. Your Samsung Galaxy S5 can be paired with Bluetooth accessories like headsets and speakers, as well as with other Bluetooth-enabled devices.

2. Verify Bluetooth is enabled. Check your Galaxy S5 and make sure Bluetooth is turned ON to enable the function. Here's how to enable Bluetooth on the GS5 handset:

a. Touch Apps from any Home screen.

b. Touch on Settings to continue.

c. Select Bluetooth.

d. Touch the Bluetooth switch located in the upper-right to turn it ON or enabled. You will know if it is enabled when the Bluetooth switch appears green, otherwise, it's grey.

3. Set your phone (S5) to discovery mode.

Follow these steps to put your device in Bluetooth Discovery Mode:

a. Touch on Apps from any Home screen.

b. Touch on Settings.

c. Select Bluetooth.

d. Touch the Bluetooth switch to turn it on (if necessary). If Bluetooth is already enabled on your phone, continue to the next step.

e. Touch the device name under My Device section. When a checkmark is present, it means it is enabled.

Hint:
The device is visible for two minutes, by default. You can also change the visibility timeout. Here's how:

  • Touch the Menu icon (three-vertical-dots) located in the upper right corner of the screen.
  • Select Visibility timeout.
  • Touch to select from 2 minutes, 5 minutes or 1 hour.

How to pair your Galaxy S5 with Bluetooth accessories

In case you need further assistance on how to pair your GS 5 handset with other Bluetooth accessories, just follow these steps:

1. Touch Apps from the Home screen.

2. Touch Settings.

3. Under Settings screen (Network Connections), scroll to and touch Bluetooth.

4. Touch the Bluetooth slider to turn it on or enabled, if the Bluetooth is OFF (disabled).

5. When Bluetooth is enabled or turned on, you will then see a list of available Bluetooth-enabled devices nearby. Scroll to and touch the name of the Bluetooth headset you want to pair with your S5. Be sure the headset is in pairing mode and within range for it to appear in the list of Available Devices.

Once you do that, the Bluetooth headset already gets connected and paired with your Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Bluetooth headset caption (beneath the option label) should then say "Connected to phone audio."

You can also try this user-defined workaround to fix Bluetooth problem on your Galaxy S5:

  • Go to Apps -> Settings -> Application Manager.
  • Swipe left or right to display All Tabs.
  • Touch Bluetooth.
  • Touch on the icon to Force Stop Bluetooth.
  • Touch to Clear the Cache and then touch to Clear Bluetooth data.
  • Touch OK.
  • Restart your phone.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Notification Lights and their Meaning

Like Samsung flagship smartphones, the Galaxy Note 3 also has a LED indicator located in the top-left corner in the front panel of your phone. The indicator emits three primary colors: Blue , Red and Green . The main purpose of the LED indicator is to notify you of the current condition or status of your phone. For example, you missed a notification, the phone would emit light with a pattern to tell you about it without actually unlocking the screen.
