Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Guide: Perform Emergency Firmware Recovery using Kies

You can use the emergency firmware recovery tool to revive or recover your Galaxy device, if in case the firmware upgrade fails or some problem occurs in your device while updating the firmware. This guide will walk you through the entire process of performing an emergency firmware recovery for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 using the KIES.

You can also recover your Galaxy Note 3 from another computer. Both of these methods are tackled in this content, so you may opt to use either ways to recover your device when necessary.

A. Recover your device via Emergency Firmware Recovery/KIES

Follow these steps to recover your device with the Samsung KIES Emergency Firmware Recovery feature.

1. Open Kies, then select Tools.

2. From the menu bar on top of the screen, select Emergency Firmware Recovery.

3. Now choose  your device (Galaxy Note 3) from the given list. Please note that your device will only be shown in the list if it needs a recovery.

Another important thing you need to take note of is the Recovery Code. You will be needing this code to restore your device from another computer (when necessary).

4. KIES will then be prompting you with certain steps to switch your Galaxy Note 3 to recovery mode. Just follow the given instructions.

5. Finally, click on the Start Upgrade button.

B. Recover your Galaxy Note 3 from another computer

You can use a different computer to upgrade the device, if the emergency recovery process fails from the computer you originally used. Be sure to note the recovery code given to you in the prior procedures. Once you get the recovery code ready, follow these steps.

1. Click on Tools to get started.

2. Select Emergency Firmware Recovery.

3. Click on Emergency recovery using the recovery code you got from the original computer.

4. Now enter the recovery code.

5. Follow the steps displayed in KIES, to switch your device to recovery mode.

6. Click on the button to Start Upgrade. The firmware will now upgrade to the latest version.
