How to Connect Samsung Gear Fit to your Galaxy S5 smartphone

This guide will help you connect a Samsung Gear Fit to your mobile device, particularly the Galaxy S5 handset, using Gear Fit Manager application.

First thing you need to do is to install Gear Fit Manager on your phone, and then you can start the connection process. You can refer to our previous post on how to install Gear Fit Manager on Samsung Galaxy S5, if you need help in installation process. Otherwise, you may start right away.

Here are the steps:

1. Make sure your mobile phone is on.

2. Turn on your Gear Fit. Press and hold the Power key until the screen turns on.

Note:
Both your Galaxy S5 and Gear Fit devices must be turned on for them to establish proper connection.

3. Go to your phone's Home screen.

4. Touch Apps to continue.

5. Scroll to and touch Gear Fit Manager to launch the application.

Note:
In case you don't see Gear Fit Manager in the list of available apps on your phone, this could mean you will have to install the application first to make it available.

6. You will then be prompted to select a device to pair. Touch Scan to begin scanning for available devices.

7. Under Available devices, touch your device name (Gear Fit) to pair with your mobile phone.

8. You will be prompted with the Bluetooth pairing request. Touch OK to confirm.

9. Now get to your Gear Fit and confirm the passkey matches the one on your mobile phone. When it matched, touch the check mark to continue.

10. On your Galaxy S5 screen, a new screen on Legal notices will then show. Read and review the End user license agreement and put a checkmark on the box at the bottom of the screen, to accept all terms and conditions.

Hint:
You can also provide diagnostic data to Samsung. Just touch Yes, then touch Finish to proceed to the setup process.

11. Read and review the Introduction to Gear Fit message on the following screen prompt, then touch Close when done.

12. Choose which wrist (left or right) you prefer to wear your Gear Fit on, then touch the check mark to complete the setup process.

You now have successfully connected your Gear Fit device to your Samsung Galaxy S5 handset.

For example, you missed a notification, the phone would emit light with a pattern to tell you about it without actually unlocking the screen. Believe it or not, it makes life a little easier if you knew the meaning of the colors and their rhythms.
