LG G3: Setup Phone For First Time Use

This post will guide your through setting up your new LG G3 smartphone. Tutorials cited in this post include inserting the micro SIM card, turning the phone on and off, how to unlock the screen, setting screen security, accessing Settings, and how to manage your apps, Home screens, and more.

Inserting A Micro SIM Card
  1. Remove the phone's back cover by placing a fingernail in the notch on the side of the phone and gently lifting the back.
  2. Remove the phone's battery by placing a fingernail in the battery release notch at the bottom of the battery and lifting the battery toward you.
  3. Slide the micro SIM card firmly into its slot.
  4. Align the plus and minus symbols on the battery with the gold contacts inside the phone's battery compartment and set the battery in place.
  5. Gently press down on each corner of the cover until it snaps into place.
Turning The Phone On and Off
  1. To turn on your phone, press and hold the Power button.
  2. Swipe up the Lock icon to unlock the phone.
  3. To turn off your phone, press and hold the Power button.
  4. Tap Power off.
  5. Tap OK.
Unlocking The Screen
  1. From the Lock screen, swipe up the Lock icon.
Please note that to prevent others from using your phone, you can use a security method. You can access the most common functions of your phone right from the Lock screen. Swipe an app up to quickly launch it.

Setting Screen Security
  1. From the Home screen, drag down the Notification Panel.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll to Lock screen.
  4. Tap Lock screen.
  5. Tap Select screen lock.
Accessing Settings

The Settings menu gives you access to control and adjust many functions such as Internet connections, phone security, the display and GPS.
  1. From the Home screen, drag down the Notification Panel.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
Navigating Multiple Home Screens
  1. From the main Home screen, swipe right to left to access Home screens to the right.
  2. Swipe left to right to return to the main Home screen.
  3. Swipe left to right again to view the Smart Bulleting home screen.
  4. Tap the Home button to return to the main Home screen.
Accessing and Closing Open Apps
  1. From the Home screen, tap the Recent apps button. Your most recently opened apps will appear int he order you last used them.
  2. Swipe an app left or right to close it.
  3. Tap Clear all to close all open apps.
Accessing and Clearing the Notification Panel

The Notification Panel gives you access to controls many functions such as Internet connections, screen brightness, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode and more.
  1. From the Home screen, drag down the Notification Panel.
  2. To dismiss notifications individually, swipe a notification to the left or right.
  3. Tap Clear to clear the Notification Panel.
Adjusting the Screen Timeout
  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Screen timeout.
  5. Select your preferred screen timeout duration.
Changing the Language
  1. From the Home screen, drag down the Notification Panel.
  2. Tap the Settings icon.
  3. Scroll to Language & input.
  4. Tap Language & input.
  5. Tap Language.
  6. Swipe to your preferred language.
  7. Select your preferred language.
