Samsung Galaxy S5 problem: Play Store download freezes at 'starting download...' and cannot sign into Google Talk [Troubleshooting]

Are you having some troubles downloading an app from the Play Store? Is your download stuck at 'Starting download...' or cannot sign into Google Talk on your Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone? If so, then I suggest you keep reading on to find out the methods that could get your problem fixed.
Before we get to the troubleshooting procedures, let us understand the problem first. What exactly is the problem you are encountering?

Again, I want to make it clear that the resolution process we are about to take up is aimed at rectifying issues on Downloading apps on Play Store, in which downloads are stuck at 'Starting download...' and cannot sign into Google Talk.

Now that we've already defined the problem, let us proceed to the resolution steps. Follow these steps:

1. Be sure your domain administrator has the Google Talk function activated or enabled for your account, especially if you are using a Google Apps account.

2. Make sure you are connected to the Internet and that you have a strong connection to your wireless network. If you cannot connect, contact your carrier or Internet Service Provider (ISP) to assist you further in getting connected to your network.

3. Try to sign in to Google talk using a network connection (2G, 3G or 4G) and also with your Wi-Fi connection.

4. If problem persists only when using a Wi-Fi connection, try to check and make sure there are no firewalls that's preventing your device to access to ports required ports for Google Talk and Google Play.

5. Ensure your device has plenty of internal storage space or at least 20 MB of available memory. Follow these steps to check these data on your device:
  • Tap on Menu.
  • Select Settings to continue.
  • Tap Applications.
  • Select Manage applications.
6. Verify and make sure background data and auto sync functions are enabled on your phone. Here's how to get there:
  • Tap on Menu.
  • Select Settings to proceed.
  • Tap on Accounts & sync.
  • Select Background data/Auto sync.
General Troubleshooting Procedures

If you haven't done this yet, restart your device and attempt to download the app again. If you are still having trouble afterwards, proceed with these general troubleshooting steps:

1. Check your data connection.

2. Ensure Download Manager is enabled on your device.

3. Clear cache & data.

4. Check your phone's available storage.

5. Re-install Play Store updates.

6. Check for any available system updates and go for an upgrade this time.

If all else failed, then you may have to consider performing a factory data reset on your device this time. This should be your last resort to get the problem solved.

Important Note:

You have to remember though that while factory data reset has been known to fix different problems on Samsung devices including the Galaxy S5, doing so will also erase all your customized settings and personal information stored on your phone. Considering this downside, we recommend you first backup all your necessary files before you perform a hard reset on your phone. Once everything is backed up, follow these steps to reset the phone to its factory default settings.

1. Tap on Menu.
2. Select Settings to proceed.
3. Tap Privacy/Phone storage.
4. Tap on Factory data reset. Doing so will reset your device to its original state.

Wait until the hard reset is finished and everything should be good by then.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Notification Lights and their Meaning

Like Samsung flagship smartphones, the Galaxy Note 3 also has a LED indicator located in the top-left corner in the front panel of your phone. The indicator emits three primary colors: Blue , Red and Green . The main purpose of the LED indicator is to notify you of the current condition or status of your phone. For example, you missed a notification, the phone would emit light with a pattern to tell you about it without actually unlocking the screen. Believe it or not, it makes life a little easier if you knew the meaning of the colors and their rhythms.
