Configure Samsung Galaxy S5 Bluetooth Settings [How to]

Bluetooth refers to a short-range wireless communications technology used for exchanging information over short distances, approximately at 30 feet. Similar to other smartphones, the new Samsung Galaxy S5 also integrates the Bluetooth function in which you can use to share photos, contacts and other contents with other Bluetooth devices. 

Several applications on the device have options for sharing via Bluetooth, typically under Menu or with the Share icon.

Here is a simple guide for you to configure Bluetooth Settings on your Samsung Galaxy S5 handset:

  1. To get started, tap on the Apps menu from the Home screen.
  1. Tap on Settings to continue.
  1. Tap on the Bluetooth icon to get to the Bluetooth menu/screen.
  2. Locate and tap on the ON/OFF switch. This will turn Bluetooth on or off.
Note:
Bluetooth switch must be turned On/Enabled to configure settings.

These are the settings to configure in the Bluetooth screen:

  • ON/OFF switch - Used to turn Bluetooth On or Off (Enable/Disable). Just tap to toggle.

  • Bluetooth device name - To enable or disable visibility to other Bluetooth devices, tap on your device's name. Once your device is visible, it will also become visible to other devices during a scan. Your device will stay visible depending on the period of time set in the Visibility timeout setting.

  • Paired device connection settings - To change its settings, tap a paired device to connect to it or simply touch the settings icon (wheel-like image).

  • Scan - To search for visible Bluetooth devices, tap on Scan. After the search is done, tap a device to pair with your GS 5.

 For more settings options, tap on the Menu icon. Among other settings options under Menu include the following:

  • Visibility Timeout - This option will let you set the length of time or duration your device is visible to other devices when you turn visibility On.

  • Received Files - This option will let you view files transferred to your device via Bluetooth.

  • Rename Device - This option lets you change the name of your phone to identify itself when you make it visible to other Bluetooth devices.

  • Help - This option offers more information relevant to Bluetooth uses and other settings.


Lining up of the devices will not be necessary when sending information with Bluetooth. This means that even if the devices to pair are in different rooms, or are in range, you still can exchange information between them.
