Samsung Galaxy Mega: Recent Apps and Task Manager

It is important that you know how to pull up the screen that displays the list of your Recent Apps and link to the Task Manager on your Samsung Galaxy Mega. This is very helpful when your phone's performance becomes slow as you can easily close apps your recent used as well as manage tasks on your phone to free up some space on your phone's memory or RAM.

This tutorial will guide you through displaying Recent applications screen in which the link to the Task Manager can also be found.

Step 1: Press and hold the Home button. Regardless of what screen you're on or what app you currently use, you can just call the Recent Apps screen.

Step 2: Touch and hold an app from the list and touch Remove from list. You can also just swipe an app left or right to close it. If you have a long list of apps running in the background, you can tap on the Close all button located in the lower-right corner of the screen. This will close everything you can find in the Recent Apps screen.

Step 3: Now, tap on the Task Manager icon located in the bottom-left corner of the screen. The first screen you will find when you open the Task Manager displays all active applications. While you may have closed some apps prior to calling the task manager, they were only apps you used 'recently' and you still have a bunch of apps running in the background. This is where you can find them.

Step 4: Touch the RAM tab. In this screen you can find the indicator that tells you how much RAM is used and how much is free. When the indicator shows you only have a small amount left, then it must be the reason why your phone has slowed down.

Step 5: Touch Clear Memory. This operation will empty the phone's RAM, however, the next time you open your apps, they will take a little longer to load since stored caches were deleted and the phone needs to cache new ones. But don't worry, that's the only time the apps will load slow; the second time your launch an app, it should be instantaneous.

As far as closing recent and active applications, and clearing the phone's RAM are concerned, that's how you do it. I hope this post helps.
