Samsung Galaxy S5: AT&T POP / SMTP Email Setup

This post will guide you on how to setup your att.net email address on your new Samsung Galaxy S5. Of course, for you to be able to use such email address, you must be an AT&T customer in the first place.

Setting up your email address on your phone is easy but you need to have all correct information about your account including your username, password and server settings. Now, here's how you do it:

Step 1: From the Home screen, tap the Email app. If you can't see Email anywhere on your Home screen, tap the Apps icon, then Email.

Step 2: Now enter your AT&T email address (userID@att.net) and password, and then tap Manual setup.

Step 3: In the next screen,  you will be asked, "What type of account?" Choose POP3 account.

Step 4: Now, you will need to enter the incoming server settings for your ATT email account and these are the things you need to enter:
  • Username - more often, your email address is your customer ID like custID@att.net.
  • Password - this is the password to your ATT email account.
  • POP3 server - you need to enter "inbound.att.net" without quotes.
  • Security type - it must be SSL
  • Port - you need to enter the number 995
  • Delete email from server - choose Never to keep your messages safe
Step 5: After you've enter all necessary information, tap the Next button.

Step 6: The next screen will be outbound server settings and these are the fields you need to fill in…
  • SMTP server - enter "outbound.att.net" without quotes.
  • Security type - the same as the incoming server settings, SSL.
  • Port - you need to enter 465
  • Require sign-in checkbox - it must be checked
  • Username - enter your full email address (custID@att.net)
  • Password - enter the password to your account.
Step 7: With all those information provided, tap the Next button.

Step 8: The next screen will be your Account options:
  • Sync schedule - set it to 2 hours
  • Peak schedule - the same as sync, 2 hours
  • Sync email - must be checked
  • Notify me when email arrives - must also be checked
Step 9: Tap the Next button.

Step 10: Your account has already been setup. You could give your account a name; the first field must bear your email address while the second text field must be the name you want to appear when you send out emails. Tap Done when finished.

And that's it! Your AT&T emails should be arriving soon.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Notification Lights and their Meaning

Like Samsung flagship smartphones, the Galaxy Note 3 also has a LED indicator located in the top-left corner in the front panel of your phone. The indicator emits three primary colors: Blue , Red and Green . The main purpose of the LED indicator is to notify you of the current condition or status of your phone. For example, you missed a notification, the phone would emit light with a pattern to tell you about it without actually unlocking the screen. Believe it or not, it makes life a little easier if you knew the meaning of the colors and their rhythms.
