One of the neat features the Samsung Galaxy S5 will bring is the Private Mode. Basically, what this "mode" does is hide data like pictures, videos, music, voice recordings and even files you saved in the phone's memory. Not only does files are kept hidden, Private Mode can be secured by a swipe pattern, PIN, fingerprint or a password.
Before I walk you through enabling Private Mode and hide files, this is how it really works. You need to turn Private Mode on so you can select files you want hidden and setup your security preference. Once you already selected files, you need to turn Private Mode off to hide them. This functionality is deeply rooted into the phone's system disallowing any apps to access files that are protected.
For those who know Android system in and out, they may be able to find loopholes on how to locate those files and perhaps Private Mode will be disabled once the phone is rooted. But anyhow, it is a really good feature and kudos to Samsung for integrating it to the Galaxy S5.
Step 2: Scroll to and tap Private Mode, and then tap Next.
Step 3: You may read the Using Private Mode information and tap Next once you're done reading. Also read how to set the privacy status for your content, and touch Start.
Step 4: You may now choose you unlock method. For this tutorial, let's use PIN.
Step 5: Enter your desired PIN. On the next screen, you need to re-enter the PIN to confirm.
Step 6: At this point, Private Mode is already on. It's time to choose files to protect. For this example, let's hide a photo from the Gallery. Go back to the Home screen, tap Apps, and then choose Gallery.
Step 7: Inside the Gallery, touch and hold a photo to select. After doing so, you only have to tap photos you want to add to your list of pictures to be hidden.
Step 8: Now tap the More options icon on the upper right corner of the screen.
Step 9: Tap Move to Private.
Step 10: After you're done moving files to Private Mode, you need to turn it off to protect them. Pull down the Notification Panel. Tap Private Mode.
Step 11: At the upper right corner of the screen, slide the toggle switch to OFF. Please note that any open content will be closed and any changes that you have not saved will be discarded. Tap OK. The files you added to Private Mode are now safe and hidden.
