How To Fix Samsung Galaxy S5 Camera Failed Problem

There are already a lot of reports from Samsung Galaxy S5 owners that they are getting the error message, "Warning: Camera Failed." This problem also happened to the Galaxy S3 and S4, although it wasn't really that common. The thing about this issue is that it could be just the camera app acting up or it could also be a hardware problem.

If you have this problem with your new Galaxy S5, here are things you can do to remedy it:

1. Reboot

Some owners claimed a simple reboot fixed the issue, at least for a few days. So, it is worth a try:
  1. Hold the Power button down, and then tap the Restart option.
  2. Wait for the phone to boot up, then launch the camera app.
If the problem persists, follow the next step.

2. Force Close, Clear Cache & Data

This procedure is necessary to rule out the possibility of corrupt camera data:
  1. From the Home screen, tap the Apps icon and tap Settings.
  2. Scroll to 'APPLICATIONS' section and then touch Application Manager.
  3. Swipe left until contents of the All tab are displayed.
  4. Scroll to and tap Camera.
  5. Tap the Force Close button first.
  6. Then, tap the Clear Cache button.
  7. Tap the Clear Data button, and then OK.
  8. Launch the camera app again to see if the problem remains.

3. Wipe Cache Partition

If the problem couldn't be resolved by simple clearing of the cache and data, then try to go a little further and wipe the cache partition.
  1. Turn the Galaxy S5 off completely.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons simultaneously.
  3. When the device vibrates, release the Power button but continue holding the other two.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release both the Volume Up and the Home buttons.
  5. Using the Volume Down key, highlight the 'wipe cache partition' option and press the Power button to select it.
  6. When the wiping of the cache partition is finished, highlight 'Reboot system now' and press the Power button to reboot the phone.
  7. Launch the camera again to see if the problem still happens.

4. Factory Reset via Recovery

If the first three procedures failed to solve the 'camera failed' problem with the Galaxy S5, try performing factory reset via the Recovery Mode.
  5. Use the Volume Down button to highlight 'wipe data / factory reset' option and press the Power button to select it.
  6. Now, highlight 'Yes -- delete all user data' and press the power button again.
  7. When the factory reset is finished, choose 'Reboot system now' to restart the phone.
  8. Check if the problem still exists.

5. Request a replacement unit

If all else fails, bring your phone to the store where you bought it and have it fixed. You could also go to any Samsung store and have it checked to claim warranty. With the phone newly released, Samsung and its partner carriers cannot afford to disappoint their customers with failing devices, they are obliged to replace it.

Have you been experiencing this problem and successfully resolved it? Please share what you did to help other owners. Thanks.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Notification Lights and their Meaning

Like Samsung flagship smartphones, the Galaxy Note 3 also has a LED indicator located in the top-left corner in the front panel of your phone. The indicator emits three primary colors: Blue , Red and Green . The main purpose of the LED indicator is to notify you of the current condition or status of your phone. For example, you missed a notification, the phone would emit light with a pattern to tell you about it without actually unlocking the screen. Believe it or not, it makes life a little easier if you knew the meaning of the colors and their rhythms.
